#WCW Episode 8, Mariah Carey

When we started to do this series, and I made my list of 52 artists I wanted to cover (1 a week for a year), Mariah was definitely on my list.  My original thought was that I wanted to "Vision of Love", as that was one of the last pop songs that I was crazy for before I got into my rebellious/metal phase. #WCW Episode 7 Indigo Girls

Simply put, this album (Indigo Girls, Rites of Passage) changed my life.  In my early childhood I lived in a lot of place like Jakarta, Seoul, Brussels....  A lot of places where the music was a bit different.  Not that music wasn't available, but different stuff was popular.  So through elementary school I listened to a lot of Madonna, Beach Boys, and a TON of soundtracks (Footloose, La Bamba, Who's That Girl?, Top Gun). When I finally moved back stateside I was introduced to the wonderful world of metal…

#WCW Episode 6, Sheryl Crow

For this week's Woman Crush Wednesday I picked Sheryl Crow's 'We Do What We Can".  Her first four records REALLY spoke to me and helped me find my direction in music.  There were a ton of great Sheryl Crow choices and I was between this, "Hard to Make a Stand", and "My Favorite Mistake".  In the end, this one won out - I tried this once before (in 2002 at Atlanta's Smith's Olde Bar) and it went BADLY.  Re-do.  Hope you enjoy!

#WCW Episodes 1-5

Hey Everyone- So I'm starting this a little late, but I'm gonna be putting up a little blog post each week to go along with our #WomanCrusWednesday series.  Each week we're doing a new video of one or more of us covering a song written or made famous by a woman.  I'm gonna write a quick post about why I picked that artist/song and what she/the song mean to me.  Since I'm starting late, I'm going to comment on episodes 1-5 in this first post, with a weekly post to follow.  Please stop by and give the videos…

The Southern Gothic Rides Again

Hello friends, family, and people who drunkenly gave me their email address.
